Frequently asked questions
Useful answers before you hand over a device.
If your question is not covered here, call the Selby workshop on 01757 600 410.

How long will my repair take?
Many standard repairs are completed the same day when parts are in stock. Ordered parts, specialist work and extended testing take longer. A Selby online time is a drop-off window, not a guaranteed repair or collection appointment. Where practical, we will aim to assess or begin the repair during that window and give you a realistic collection estimate after assessment.
How do I pay?
Payment is made with the team after the repair and before collection, unless a parts deposit or different arrangement has been agreed. The website does not take repair payments.
What warranty comes with a repair?
Warranty varies by repair and part. The team explains the applicable cover before collection. Accidental damage, liquid ingress and unrelated faults are not covered.
Should I bring a charger, case or SIM card?
Bring the device without accessories unless the accessory is relevant to the fault or the team asks for it. A charger may help with an intermittent charging issue.
Will I lose my data?
A standard repair should not erase data, but no storage device is risk-free. Back up important data before drop-off whenever the device allows it. Do not send a password or PIN through the website.
Is there an inspection fee?
Some investigations carry an inspection or diagnostic fee, especially when work is declined or a device cannot be repaired. The team confirms any fee before accepting the device.
What parts do you use?
We use genuine parts where available and appropriate. When quality OEM parts are the practical alternative, we explain that choice and any device messages or limitations before work.
Will my iPhone show an Important Message, Unknown Part or Finish Repair label?
It can, depending on the iPhone model, iOS version, part and whether Apple’s Repair Assistant calibration has been completed. Current iOS records repair information in Settings > General > About > Parts & Service History. An Unknown-part notification appears on first unlock after repair and again five days later; the status remains in Parts & Service History. These labels do not normally prevent use of the iPhone, although unfinished calibration or a particular component issue can affect specific features. We explain any expected message or limitation before you approve the repair. Read Apple’s current guidance.
Can I book Huddersfield online?
No. Huddersfield is a pre-arranged drop-off and collection point. A few minor repairs may be completed there, but most devices go to our advanced Selby workshop. The online form books Selby drop-offs only.
Are the town pages physical offices?
No. They describe areas served by HAD-TECH. Selby is the main workshop and online booking location; Huddersfield is a pre-arranged drop-off point.
How does device reservation work?
Submit a free hold request from the listing. We check stock and contact you. A device is not reserved until the team confirms it, and collection is from Selby.
